Malena Persson is a documentary photographer, originally from Sweden but has lived in bonnie Scotland since 2003. Malena specialises in NGO photography, and has worked for organisations like Friends of the Earth and Greenpeace, but also local charities like the Citadel Youth Centre in Leith. Inspired by Scotland as her new home; Malena is currently working on a documentary on the isle of Barra that explores the rugged landscape of the Hebridean island, while at the same time taking an intimate look into the lives of the islanders. When not out shooting, Malena loves good homemade food and can spend hours in the kitchen, and she also enjoys long walks on the beach – in the company of her rescue staffy Zena.
Being part of TEDx is the most amazing thing. Great ideas, big or small, are food for thought, they make us think and see fresh. Ideas make us evolve, test uncharted territories, build upon new grounds and create new structures. Good ideas are always worth sharing!
