I am a Biomedical Scientist working in an NHS microbiology laboratory, diagnosing viral and bacterial infections. As a former veterinary nurse, I have a keen interest in zoonotic and anthropogenic infections. Outside of work I am involved in various aspects of bat conservation, particularly the care of sick and injured bats. I hold a bat roost visitors licence from Scottish Natural Heritage, and regularly present talks and lead workshops on bats, bat veterinary care, and bat handling, both locally and nationally. I am also an ambassador for the charity “Give A Kidney”, promoting altruistic kidney donation.
